Review: Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel

Hi everyone! Today I am reviewing a product I’ve been using and coming back to for over ten years, the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel (try saying that 5x fast).

You can tell by all the different sized bottles how much I love this stuff.

“This genius gel developed by Clinique’s dermatologists maintains optimal moisture balance for oily skin. The refreshing, oil-free formula combines all-day hydration with skin-strengthening ingredients so skin looks younger longer and feels fresh and comfortable.” (from Sephora website)

No Fragrance, Oil-Free, No Parabens

Water/Aqua/Eau, Dimethicone, Isododecane, Butylene Glycol, Bis-PEG-18 Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane, Glycerin, Laminaria Saccharina Extract, Polygonum Cuspidatum Root Extract, Saccharomyces Lysate Extract, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Hordeum Vulgare (Barley) Extract/Extrait D’Orge, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seedcake, Caffeine, Triethelose, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Sucrose, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria), Polysilicone-11, Silica, Propylene Glycol Dicaprate, Oleth-10, Lactobacillus Ferment, Laureth-23, Laureth-4, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Caprylyl Glycol, Hexylene Glycol, Tromethamine, Disdoium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Potassium Sorbate, Yellow 5, Red 4, Yellow 6

This gel comes in several different sizes. You can get 1.7 oz for $14.50 ($8.50/1 oz), perfect for travel or to try it out, or 4.2 oz for $27 ($6.43/1 oz). Clinique also brings out a larger size around the holidays, which I believe retails for $38 for 6.7 oz ($5.67/1 oz).

Where can you buy it?

Anywhere that sells Clinique, some examples, Sephora, Ulta, Nordstrom and Clinique itself.

I first received this gel for Christmas one year in one of Clinique’s Three-Step Skincare Kits. I remember being so excited because it was a ~department store~ brand. Since then, I’ve been using it on and off again. I especially love it in these hot summer months.

My skin is oily but can get dehydrated. You may think, “Oh, I have oily skin, I don’t need moisturizer!” However, I have seen one of the biggest differences in my skin by regularly applying moisturizer. Adding moisture to your skin can help prevent it from overcompensating by producing oil. This gel provides the perfect amount of moisture in my morning skincare routine, plus it sinks in relatively quickly so I can apply my sunscreen and makeup to get on with my day. This product is also nice if you apply a facial spritz immediately beforehand.

The feel upon application is watery and cool (something I appreciate in the summer). The product takes about 10 minutes to sink in, more if your face was still damp or you applied a facial spritz. I’ve never had my skin break out due to this moisturizer. I’ve tried many Clinique products, but I’ll always come back to this one.

5/5, I plan on using this for a long time
